a fantastical farm

Terra Chimera is a small produce farm that aims to provide a feast for the senses. The farm is completely organic in practice. We source organic seed and our fields are unsprayed. We’re happy to answer any questions about our approach to cultivation on the land that we’re occupying.

Local to Cape May, NJ - we grow many things. Heads of lettuce, radishes, and fresh herbs for your salad bowl. Onions, carrots, and celery for your soup pot. Eggplant, okra, and peppers for your grill. Flowers for your tables.

Check out The Crops for a comprehensive list.

“Terra” is Latin for Earth.

“Chimera” is the Greek concept of a fantastical multi-parted creature.

All we grow is available locally during our growing season through a members-only subscription, and the tuesday farm stand @ Terra Chimera.

What is CSA?

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a modern market-gardening tradition that has served both farmers and their customers for decades. The model entails an upfront purchase of an entire season’s worth of produce, locally distributed typically in weekly installments. Similar to a Prix-Fixe menu in a restaurant, the customer puts trust in the farmer to professionally curate the selection each week, making choices based on quality and availability. There are plenty of benefits to this model - boosting local economies, eliminating the uncertainty and massive carbon footprint associated with global grocery supply chains, and assuring a steady flow of freshly picked seasonal farm ingredients from the field to your kitchen. This model also benefits farmers by helping them cover uniquely substantial costs associated with early spring.

Terra Chimera offers CSA memberships that are easy and plentiful. Our weekly packages contain a varied selection of astonishingly fresh produce for a 2 to 4-person household or single vegetable enthusiast. If you’re used to grocery store vegetables, you’re in for a real treat. Not sure what to do once you bring your box home? All CSA members have access to a custom digital newsletter to help guide them in their culinary journeys. We’ve both worked as cooks for years and want to ensure that you feel well-informed and equipped to transform what we’ve grown into dinner & beyond.

If being a part of a CSA sounds like a good fit for you & your family, head over to our MEMBERSHIPS page to make a selection.

Meet the Farmers

Bringing their diverse backgrounds to the table, these two expertly season the pot with something special and represent a whole that is greater than the sum of its parts.

Lauren Giunta (she/her) is originally from South Jersey and worked as a classically trained cook in the SF Bay Area and Philadelphia for a decade before transitioning to market-garden farming. Most recently she’s spent more than three seasons working closely with a small farm that raises organic culinary vegetables & livestock; tending the fields, helping manage the farmer’s market table, and preserving excess harvest. Her specific skill sets include knowledge of butchery & food preservation techniques, practical sustainable farming methods, and marketing & sales of agricultural products.

Cain Cummings (they/them) is experienced in growing in a variety of fields. Originally from South Jersey, Cain worked for seven years with oyster aquaculture in the Delaware Bay and for three years managing a wild simulated American Ginseng farm in the Catskill Mountains. Bringing a passion for the Southern New Jersey ecosystem and healthy sustainable growing practices helps establish a skill set that stands apart from other growers in the industry. Beyond their love of the natural world, Cain has a background as a graphic artist. Their photography has been published internationally.

We are fortunate in that we also foresee many of our deeply creative friends, family members and collaborators contributing in their own ways to this project as it unfolds. TC is truly a community effort. Big thanks to everyone who’s ever been involved.
